Most of the blue collar workers I know are in the middle class. Lower middle class, sure, but still in the middle. I'd say the main difference between lower and upper middle class is simply the money. There's no giant differences.
My boyfriend came from an upper middle class family. I am from a lower middle class family. We live together now, and there are tiny differences. The pillows he brought from his old house were 200 bucks apiece; mine were 20. All of his clothes are from pricey designer or higher-end label stores; I have very few pieces like that. I know how to get by on our meager amount of money (poor college students), and he is having a harder time adjusting.
