Of course this isn’t limited to stovetop cooking. There are many men and women around the world who find baking to be an extremely pleasurable pastime in addition to traditional stovetop cooking or even barbecuing on a grill. The main distinction occurs in how you perceive your cooking projects.

How Do Your View Cooking?

While this question is asked somewhat rhetorically, it is a question you should ask yourself and answer. Do you view cooking as a chore or duty or do you view it as a project? There is something much more exciting about embarking on a new project than getting around to a loathsome chore. If you do view cooking as a chore the more important question might be why?

Some common reasons that people dislike cooking include the following: lack of skill, lack of confidence, boredom, or you could simply dislike the inevitable clean up far more than you enjoy the process of cooking. For each of these, there are solutions if you are willing to make the effort.

A lack of skill when it comes to cooking can be easily corrected in most cases by taking a few cooking classes. Classes are offered for varying degrees of skill sets and are meant to help you develop your cooking talents while teaching you the basics of meal planning and preparation. You can increase your skills by taking more classes down the road.

While a lack of confidence is a little more difficult to address having a few ‘dinner parties’ in which your quests can compliment your culinary talents can often solve this particular dilemma. The key in this process is to plan your menu carefully and remain well within your comfort zone. You will be amazed at the wonderfully rich and delicious meals that can be prepared with very little effort if you are willing to sift through the recipe books in order to find them.

Boredom in the kitchen is perhaps one of the easiest problems to fix there is. The solution is exceedingly simple-find a challenge. Try cooking Thai or Indian cuisine. Try more difficult recipes. Try making only meals from scratch or simply try broadening your use of spices and seasonings. There are many things you can do in order to bring some excitement back into your kitchen. You may even discover hidden talents and tastes in the process.

There will always be clean up. My suggestion is to make a deal with either your partner or your children and they can draw straws over who cleans up. Of course if this won’t work in your family, you could always turn over a new leaf and clean as you go whenever possible. This makes the clean up process after dinner so much simpler to handle that it is well worth a few extra minutes during meal prep.

Cooking for pleasure is really the only way to cook. If you have difficulties when it comes to finding the enjoyment and entertainment value of cooking, perhaps it’s time you bring some fun back into your kitchen. If you’re barbecuing, put on some Jimmy Buffet and dance around your kitchen. If you’re cooking Italian find some nice Italian music to set the mood. Bring the fun back into your kitchen and you will find that cooking is a pleasure rather than a chore.

In the end, diets never work. So if you plan on changing your eating and exercising habits for the better, don’t say you’re going on a diet. Diets are always temporary. Instead change your life, for the rest of your life. Diets are always about things you CAN’T and MUST do. You CAN’T eat this, you MUST work out like this.

Ban the words CAN’T and MUST from your vocabulary. Say “I WILL eat healthy because it makes me leaner” or “I WILL exercise daily because it makes me feel more energetic”. Focus on the benefits of your new lifestyle. Positive thinking is the way to achieving any goal.

The key to success is in setting goals, not just inside your head but writing them down. Set realistic goals but be sure they are not too easy too. If they are too easy, they will not motivate you enough. Visualize yourself realizing your goal, how will you look and feel when you have achieved your goal. If you are about to reach your goal, set a new goal that is a bit more ambitious.

The best way is to set a year goal and split it up into smaller goals, say monthly and weekly goals. Don’t be blinded by the scale. My advice is to measure in once every week. Don’t weigh yourself on a daily basis, because your weight may vary a few pounds from day to day. Also always weigh in at approximately the same time, say every Saturday morning between 9 and 10 o’clock.

And most importantly, don’t panic if one week you didn’t lose any weight. It can happen. It will happen. Some weeks you will easily lose 4 pounds, other weeks 1 pounds, some weeks none at all. The body works in mysterious ways. Keep your eyes on the long term goals instead.

Diet – lets face it with out this you probably will not be as successful loosing weight as you would like. You can exercise all you want but if you go to fast food drivethrus all the time or eat the morning donuts you probably wont have much success. Lets talk about the fat first. You can do the low carb diets that actually say you should eat fatty foods and cut out the carbs and this does help you loose weight fast. The problem with these types of diets are that once you go off the diet and start eating normal again the weight starts coming back two fold, been there done that. Then there are the only carb diets which actually are pretty good for your heart. You find that your body starts missing the protein that it used to get from meat and you start getting tired. The next diet you can try is being a vegetarian which is a very good diet and you will loose weight but you must replace your protein and make sure you get enough vitamins and don’t short your self any nutrients. You know the best way to diet really is to watch your calories and fat intake. If you eat smaller portions at more times through out the day would be the best for you allowing your body to burn each and every meal you eat rather then storing it for later or turning it to fat. It is hard to keep track of all this but once you start doing it you will find it gets easier and easier. Lets face it losing weight and keeping it off is a life changing job that you have to work at and you will see great results if you add our next subject we will talk about.

Exercise – This is the hardest to keep faithful to. It is the hardest to start and the hardest to do when you just don’t want to do it. When you first start exercising you will be sore in the days following but you need to work through it and pretty soon it will not hurt anymore. First start a walking program 1 to 2 miles a day or 20 to 30 minutes a day. Do what you can handle maybe it is more than that. Then get yourself some 1 to 5 pound dumbbells and start doing regular exercise routines which we won’t go in to detail now but you can look up any routine on the internet and pick one that you think will work for you. You can loose weight with out exercising but that doesn’t mean that you are living healthy. Exercising helps your muscles be loose and tone. Sweating helps get rid of the toxins in your body that could cause cancers. Exercising also helps your heart, the most important muscle in your body, exercising helps keep your blood vessels open and clear. As you get older, if you do not exercise in some way your body starts to deteriorate faster. You can’t stop the aging but you will feel better and will be able to do the things you like. To keep up with both dieting and exercising you have to take control of the one thing that will make you quit both if you don’t master this next topic.

Your will – If you can control this you will be successful. Your will is what tells you that you don’t feel like doing this today or this candy bar won’t hurt me today. Then before you know it your week is filled with not exercising and as many candy bars and fast food as you can eat. To take control of your will you have to find ways to keep you focused like posting positive notes around your house or work. There is many different ways to keep your will focused. Once you train your mind to get rid of all the negativity that stops you from exercising and dieting the easier you find it is to change to a healthier lifestyle. Try posting pictures of you when you started your program that you choose. Then start posting pictures of yourself after you have been on your program for a month or two. The whole idea here is to keep everything positive and get rid of all the negative. When you start seeing all the results it will be easy to do all three steps to a healthy lifestyle.

In the name of modern life style people tend to ignore the facts which they should be taken care of. Usually they don’t wake up until the side effects descends on them. The fast paced life style is creating dangerous disorders on their health and they begin to feel it only above the age of 40. The junk filled life style has even increased its pace and those who are in their 30s begin to feel it.

There is a old saying that, “we are what we eat”. It even holds good today. If you are consuming high calorie foods and not doing enough exercise, it will tell on your health sooner than later. You need to be more careful when you are approaching the age of 40. Diabetes, respiratory infection, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cardiovascular diseases, cancer and osteoporosis are some main problems, people in this age group confront with. The food habits and unhealthy lifestyle are the main contributors.

The most important period in life is between forty and fifty. It is in this period one ha to bear more responsibilities in their profession as well as family. They have to travel often, attend multiple meetings, manage a team and meet targets or deadlines. Their children will be in their teens and need more care towards their education. The teens need varies from materialistic to emotional. On the other side they have to cope with financial stress. To plan for the imminent arrival of the retirement period and the rising expenses put enormous stress on them.

When nearing 60 the responsibilities will reduce. But the damage done to the health in their busy 40s may be difficult to reverse. Given their busy schedules, these people have little time for any exercise. The stress and strain filled life style, long working hours and unhealthy eating habits complicate matters.

Good and healthy eating habits

As in most families both the parents are working, they find little or no time to cook in the house. They rely heavily on ready to cook food and junk food. These high calorie foods not only affect the health of the parents but also the next generations in their house. Moreover today’s job or profession is highly demanding which makes them working for long hours, leaving little time to look after their house and children. This automatically push them to the easiest choice of ready-to-eat junk foods. These foods consists of high calories and has artificial coloring and preservatives. So there is no wonder why these foods are serious health hazards over a period of time. Using readymade foods deprives one of essential vitamins and minerals which are rich in our traditional foods. Vegetables and fruits find no place in their menu.

Frequent consumption of junk foods with irregular intake of meals may contribute to many health problems such as acidity. gastroenteritis, obesity, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Due to these factors people in this age group complain of fatigue. Those above 40 have no other option but to modify their dietary intake and lifestyle to optimize their health and avoid old age ailments. Take more foods like whole grains and legumes, fruits and vegetables. Lean meat is preferred most and take more protein rich foods. Avoid oily food or reduce to the minimum level. Avoiding bad habits altogether is advisable. Reduce alcohol consumption slowly and quit smoking.

Dietary supplements

Dietary supplements or nutritional supplements is a must in this world of hectic lifestyle. Remember it is not a choice, but it is a must. Because home-cooking contributes only a little to our daily food and today’s fruits and vegetables are contaminated and lack proper nutritional values. So regarding nutrition, there is a huge gap between what we need and what we get. This deprives our inner organs the essential nutrition they need to function normally. As a result they get more aged than our physical age.

Take micronutrient fortified foods. Have a health drink rich in vitamins and minerals. Include more fibrous foods with zero sugar and cholesterol. Plan your daily intake so that your food is balanced with essential nutrients. This helps to get the daily quota of nutrients. A balanced diet helps to improve the immunity level and keep one healthier.

Daily exercise

The dietary supplements help to provide nourishment but are not a full substitute to a regular balanced diet. The second most important thing is doing regular exercise. Walking is the best and the easiest form of physical activity. Go for a thirty minute brisk walking, at least four to five days in a week. Regular exercise helps to burn excess calories and avoids becoming obesity. It helps to maintain good health. Take regular health check-ups for sugar level, cholesterol and blood pressure. Change your eating habits. Take more vegetables and fruits and give importance to home cooking. Do regular exercise. The simple thing is, the intake of calories should match the spent calories. Making the necessary adjustments in our routine life will keep away the life style disorders.

With the holiday season upon us people spend even more of their time thinking about others and doing for others rather than for themselves. That is what is expected during the holidays of course but what about the rest of the year?

For most people life seems so hectic taking care of all that must be done to survive that they entirely forget about taking care of their body. The body becomes a forgotten factor until and unless a medical appointment bearing bad news brings it front and center. As long as the body continues to carry people around while they take care of everything but it, it is forgotten altogether.

The result of this lifestyle is a time in history where lack of fitness and weight issues and diseases and conditions related to it dominate the medical field. Those bodies that were forgotten are left for doctors to resolve the problems created from a lifetime of not placing the self first. The problem with that result is doctors can’t cure the conditions created by a lifetime of neglect.

A lifestyle that lacks regular exercise and controlled weight over time creates issues of diabetes, high blood pressure, some cancers including colon cancer, heart problems, asthma and arthritis. On the other hand a lifestyle that includes regular care of the body through consistent exercise and controlled weight enjoys highly reduced risks of developing these life destructive diseases and illnesses along with a lesser incidence of issues related to depression and anxiety.

While you are running around this holiday season thinking of everyone but yourself don’t forget to start caring about the self. If you have not taken care of yourself they way you should be through a regular exercise routine and reducing weight to safe level that is within normal ranges, know that it is never too late to start doing so.

Unless a real disability prevents it there is no such thing as an impossible case and everyone has the ability to not only reduce their weight to normal levels but they also have the ability to engage in regular exercise. If you have spent time ignoring your body believing that you are an impossible case due to prior failed efforts to improve your health through exercise and weight loss, the truth is that you likely did not sustain an effort to improve your weight and take care of the needed regular exercise requirement long enough to realize the results that will occur with a constant regular effort over time.

In this fast paced society that expects everything to happen overnight the reality about the human body is that it makes changes slowly. Achieving a total fitness result and or weight loss takes months to years to achieve. But with the real need of every human body to engage in regular exercise, if you fulfill that need, you will eventually not only experience reduced weight and a fit body but you will be able to sustain that healthy reality forever.

There is control over your reality when it comes to your body and everyone not only has the ability in them to do it but also the body chemistry that will make it happen when the effort is consistent over time. Make time for yourself, make time for your body, and enjoy a life that avoids being forced later to spend time buying prescriptions and visiting the doctor regularly to take care of the problems that neglect of the self created.

If you don’t make time for yourself now, you will end up being forced to make time for yourself later when you are forced to face the consequence of neglect of the self. Make the right decision now and start a schedule of regular exercise and weight loss management and you will have a happier life and a better life guaranteed. Now that’s a goal worth taking time out for!

When it comes to dieting, far too many people set themselves up for failure before they even begin the process. They literally dread going on their diets and before they start the process are planning their mishaps along the way. Sad to say but true, far too many would be dieters are planning their first Rocky Road mishap while eating their last bowl of Rocky Road before the big event.
I have no idea why we tend to do this to ourselves but it is something I see in dieters everywhere. The far too popular notion is that one must binge on the foods most loved and enjoyed before beginning the dieting process because these things must be completely eliminated in order to shed those unwanted pounds. If you are honest with yourself, nothing could be further from the truth. Moderation is simply a concept that many of us are loathe to embrace.
You must change your way of thinking about food and your personal enjoyment of food in order for any diet you embrace to be successful. Food isn’t the enemy. And that is something that not enough people really understand. Even the ‘bad’ foods aren’t the enemy. The enemy is inability to eat proper portion sizes and the vast majority of you eat the wrong foods far more often than we eat the right foods.
Portion control is a big problem in the US. We live in a society of “up selling”. Super sized fries and empty calories by the gallon in your favorite cola are offered with almost every fast food meal that can be bought. You can still make healthy fast food choices, but you have to watch your portion sizes, and make informed choices when you order.
To be “successful” on a diet, you really need to make it way of life, instead of a “diet”, which conotates a short term solution. This short term solution thinking is what leads to yo-yo dieting. You lose eat right and exercise for a while, then when you get to the weight you want to be you go back to your old habits, and gain the weight back.
Don’t make your diet so rigid that you abstain from all your favorite foods. Depriving yourself will only make you “break the rules” of your diet. This kind of deprivation diet will also lead you to not get back on the program as quickly. It is recommended to incorporate “cheat” meals into your diet. These are planned meals or treats that are not as healthy as you could eat. You can add more cheat meals in the beginning of your lifestyle change and as you get more used to choosing healthier options you can decrease your “cheats”. Don’t ever completely take them out of your diet, because it’s good to have enjoyable foods and fun times with your friends involving food.
Dieting for weight loss and health is only depriving if you allow it to be. If you have difficulty with overindulging having planned “cheats” can help you stick with a new lifestyle plan. Learning to incorporate treats, even smart fast food choices, into your routine in moderation should help you find happiness with a new lifestyle of healthier eating and exercise.

The New Year is here and already two weeks has passed you by. You swore to yourself that this year would be different. You even got a gym membership and everything. So, why are you still procrastinating? For most people, it is the thought of sweating away all their time on a treadmill that keeps them from starting. What makes the difference for people who can not seem to get enough exercise to achieve a Heallthy Lifestyle?

In order to lead a healthy lifestyle, you have to have a love for exercise. Or, at least a like for it. If exercise is not in your heart, trick yourself so that it is! You can not move toward your goals without a willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve them…and getting started is the most difficult task to overcome. You may not want to do it, but nine times out of ten when a person just gets going, they want to continue.

Here are 4 proven ways to trick yourself into thinking exercise is something you love.

How To Love Exercise Trick #1: Get The Right NutritionHow is this going to trick myself, you ask? Well, what happens when you provide your body with the right nutrition? You feel healthier and more energetic. This energy usually calls out to you to hit the gym, or even a simple walk around the block without you even knowing it. When you eat poorly, you feel like sitting on the couch and eating even more junk food.

Proper nutrition for me is a soy-based protein drink every morning along with a cup of hot green tea. This gives me nutrition and energy I need to get me through the day without ever even thinking about taking a nap. What’s even better is that green tea has been known to increase metabolism, so the more I drink the more I shrink. (width wise, not length!)

How To Love Exercise Trick #2: Baby StepsEase into exercise. Do not start out with a bang or you will burn out just as fast as you started. Take a laid back approach to exercise at first. Make small goals and achieve them every single day. If you have never been a runner but would like to begin, do not try to run 5 miles a day. Start with a half mile and increase it by a half mile each week.

So many people quit exercising after only a week because they over exert themselves and drain too much energy in too little time. Stretch properly to avoid muscle soreness and by all means drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated. This little trick of taking baby steps into an exercise program will allow you to enjoy the journey you are taking to good health.

How To Love Exercise Trick #3: Join A ClassBeing around others who want to achieve the same goals as yourself will take the edge off your worries about exercise being too much work and not enough fun. Exercise is what you make of it. If you want it fun, make it fun. Think beyond the treadmill and stationary bicycle, and do not worry about the abilities of others. Focus on improving only yourself.

There are many classes that offer activities other than typical exercise that will give you the same benefits. You do not have to run like a hamster for an hour to get a great workout. Remember dancing? How about karate? Even joining a bowling league is more active that sitting on the couch. Just remember to choose a lane far away from the vending machine!

How To Love Exercise Trick #4: Listen To Music Or Watch TVIf you are the type of person who likes to exercise alone but can not seem to get yourself motivated to do so, purchase an IPOD shuffle and download your favorite music to accompany you. There is no better driving force than keeping yourself entertained while you exercise. Your mind will not be focused on the “work” of your work-out, and you will trick yourself into passing the time enjoying yourself without the boredom of silence.

If you can not tear yourself away from your television set, there is no reason you can not exercise during prime time. Gyms are equipped with TV sets, and they will usually let you choose the station you want. Set yourself up for a half hour of treadmill walking or stationary bike riding. The trick here is that you will be so into your tv show you will probably forget you are exercising.

The more you exercise, the less it will become a chore and the more you will love it. Exercise is the only proven “healthy habit,” meaning that is can become addictive so that you will never want to miss a day without it. In order to lead a healthy lifestyle, you must develop the mindset of a person who thinks this way. For some people it comes naturally. If you are someone who sonsiders exercise too much work and not enough play, follow the steps listed about to trick yourself into changing your way of thinking.

For a weight loss diet to be a winner, it simply has to be easy to maintain over the long term. It has to include all favourite foods be and adaptable to your own personal lifestyle.

You must select an easy diet plan or program that matches your own lifestyle, you must select that particular plan that includes a majority of foods which you enjoy otherwise you wont be able to maintain it. After all, it is that plan you enjoy that then becomes the ‘easy diet’. In other words it depends on the individual. If you never really feel deprived of foods you like, well then you truly are on that elusive easy diet.

The first tip is portion control, by all means eat foods you enjoy, but for your own sake, down-size your portions. Remember, everything in moderation.

The next tip sounds a little daft, but taking time to eat you food is very important. Chew your food correctly, fully, and at a moderate pace. Allow you stomach to recognize the food its consuming, notice the signals your body is transmitting to your brain. Eating quickly will only cause you to eat more than you really need to be full. Slower eating allows you to need less food to kill that appetite quicker. Let’s not forget it can only be better for your digestion.

Thirdly, don’t forget to prepare your meal plans in advance, don’t let your everyday life catch you off guard, then you start reaching for the junk food. So plan your diet, it will assist you in maintaining a gradually improving weight loss until you complete your easy diet program.

Attempt to utilise various cooking techniques, such as boiling, baking, grilling, steaming, braising instead of fried food. Cut the unhealthy oils from you consumption, go for olive oil and rapeseed oil, even fish oil.

A useful universal tip that almost everyone should share is eating fruit. Fruit falls under the category of a simple carbohydrate, giving energy, filling you with fibre and helping curb hunger pangs.

Similarly, one should also include eating vegetables, for an easy diet life cut them and chill for a snack, and eat ready frozen vegetables with a meal. Try boiling in vegetable stock for extra flavour.

Monitor your liquid consumption, go for water most of the time and avoid sugary sparkling drinks, and also fruit juices with added sugar. Keep in mind that drinking water actually uses up calories too. Whereas sugary drinks add hidden calories to your diet.

Finally, remember to eat breakfast! It truly is the most important meal of the day, it boosts your metabolism for the remainder of the day. Those who eat a breakfast sustain a healthier weight in the long run.

This easy diets plan will sustain a healthy weight in the long term and it is adjustable to most peoples lifestyle. So keep it up and enjoy your new easy diets lifestyle.

Creating that healthy lifestyle that you always wanted does not need to be a nightmare. Making some easy changes in the way you think and the way you look at your life, you can achieve a healthy lifestyle. The following are some great starting points to get you on your path to reach your goal. * Condition Your Mindset Through Positive Thinking One of the most important things you can do for yourself is to get in the right mindset. Your mindset is the way you think or perceive certain aspects of your life. To condition your mindset you must have your subconscious trained through positive thinking. For instance, if you want to lose 20 pounds and you have had trouble with diet programs then it is time to condition your mindset. If you go to a quite place in your home, relax and close your eyes. Now visualize yourself 20 pounds lighter and tell yourself “I am slim and fit”. Do this exercise several times a day. Throughout the day you want to reinforce your mindset by telling yourself constantly “I am slim and fit”. Doing this will eventually condition your mindset to help you achieve your goal. * Creating The Proper Diet Without a proper diet, you can’t expect to be fit or help build muscles. You must be particular on what goes in your body in order to support the healthy lifestyle you want. Protein varieties should be considered, such as red meat which is rich in protein although there are other alternatives like fish, cottage cheese, soy, nuts, beans and rice which are all rich in protein. Protein also helps promote muscle growth for body building. Keep fitness in mind when planning your meals, well balanced meals should include fruits and vegetables. If you feel hungry in between meals then you should try some shredded carrots. * Managing Proper Rest and Relaxation Just as having a proper diet is important, it is also very important to give your body the proper rest it deserves. Allowing your body and mind to get at-least 8 hours of sleep a night, will help you replenish your energy levels so your body and mind can work at optimum levels for maximum efficiency. * Balancing It All Together It may take some adjusting and getting used to but you can affectively balance your mindset, dieting, exercising and relaxation. By following a properly planned schedule you can balance everything you need to have that healthy lifestyle that you dream of having.

Leading a healthy lifestyle is something that many people strive for.

Countless hours in the gym and an unsatisfyingly healthy diet are two great ways to achieve the type of lifestyle that will earn you praise from your doctor. But if being healthy is that easy, why are so many North Americans unhealthy?

The answer to that question is this: It’s easy to know what it takes to lead a healthy life, the difficult part is following through on exactly what it is you need to do to get there.

If you’re not sure whether you’re maintaining a healthy lifestyle, we suggest finding out if any of the following statements apply to you:

1. Your cigarette intake outweighs your vitamin intake.2. You’re more likely to chug a beer than a glass of water.3. You’d prefer watching a 6-hour marathon of Desperate Housewives to a half-hour workout at the gym.4. When asked which you prefer more, a home-cooked meal or a McDonalds Big Mac, you respond with “the Big Mac, of course – with supersized fries.”5. You’d rather stay up until 4 o’clock in the morning (on a work night) playing Halo 3 than getting some well-needed rest for the next day.

If any (or all) of these statements apply to you, chances are you’re leading an unhealthy lifestyle. Here are a few small changes you can make in your daily life to improve your health:1. Quit Smoking.2. Drink lots of water.3. Exercise.4. Eat Healthy.5. Get lots of rest.

You don’t have to change your whole world to accommodate your healthy lifestyle. A few small changes can make a huge difference. How about having one glass of wine a night instead of three? How about walking to the store to get some milk instead of always driving? These are small adjustments that will have a huge, long-term impact on your well-being.So go on, indulge in that Big Mac meal with super-sized fries every now again – just plan to spend the rest of the week working it off!
