What Do You Think Of Uk Doctors Have Called For No Medical Help For People Who Live Unhealthy Lifestyles?

The National Health coverage of UK provides for free medical coverage, and doctors have recommended withholding medical care for very old people and those that abuse themselves with unhealthy lifestyles. What do you think of this concept? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jht…

Has any heard about this Lifestyles product: Dec 12, 2012 Official Countdown? I actually have used it and found it to be excellent.

That is a very scary and inhumane concept. It borders on euthanasia! After all, if older people are denied health care, many will die, since some already have life-threatening medical conditions and are kept alive mostly due to modern medicine.
And while I understand the concern about unhealthy life styles, it is still unethical to consider depriving these folks of medical care. They need long-term education, and sometimes a health crisis, to begin to change their ways. But many are not unable to be salvaged eventually.
The Hippocratic oath involves first, “Do No Harm.” By not doing anything for these at risk people, enormous harm would be done.
It is also very scary, to contemplate who would decide how old you have to be, or how unhealthy a lifestyle you would have to lead to be denied medical care. Would the cut-off points be decided purely on the basis of the profit-margin of the National Health coverage entity?!!! Sounds like a Dr. Strangelove scenario.
No doubt this suggestion by National Health will not fly. But even to suggest the idea is inhumane and abhorrent.

Last time I checked, even the doctors in the UK are obliged to take the Hypocritical oath too. They do not have the right to refuse medical attention to any person that needs it right there and then. They are not allowed to judge. And this should apply to doctors everywhere, not just the United Kingdom. I am not too familiar with the NHS programs in the UK, but I am pretty sure that such a thing will never be allowed. I also want to say that the medical care in the UK is not free. Their taxes pay for it. So you can bet that there will be a major outcry if this suggestion was actually implemented. The Brits take their rights rather seriously

Currently it appears like Movable Type is the preferred blogging platform out there right now. (from what I’ve read) Is that what you’re using on your blog?
