Why Are Americans Still Driving Gas Guzzling Cars And Living High Energy Lifestyles?

Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” demonstrates brilliantly the scale of the disaster that faces us all as a result of Global warming and yet it seems to be having no impact at all on the behaviour of Americans. Indeed America seems determined to expend all its effort in a mega gas guzzling war machine to secure its access to Middle Eastern oil so that the madness can continue

Al Gore just makes that stuff up and sells it to stupid people. There is no proof for most of the things he claims and the rest of exaggerated.
Americans drive big cars and live high energy lifestyles because we want to and can afford it.
The reason foreign countries have such small cars isn’t because they want them its because their governments tax the real cars to the point where they aren’t affordable.

Well, look, let’s be honest here. Gas is cheap in the US, about $2 a gallon. The US drives the world economy for the most part, because we are both the largest consumer and producer of manufactured goods (I thought it was China too, but, well, not yet, anyhow), as well as the largest supplier of food to the world. Energy costs will always be lower in the US, because we pay less tax/unit of energy consumption thanks to a reasonable energy tax rate, which helps promote energy production, as well. In that way, The US maintains an energy reserve, by not maximizing our internal energy production- rather than using our own resources, we import others at controlled costs. When world markets aren’t being manipulated unfairly, as has happened in the past two years, it works rather well.
Simply put, regardless of rumors and unfounded economic rumors, low taxes in the US contributes to low energy costs to consumers. High consumption/person keeps costs low also, by keeping overall sales high.
And yes, the madness continues, but on the other hand, we have a higher standard of living than do our similarly-employed european counterparts. Excesses aside, it’s a nice place to live, for the most part.

Live Fast Die Young, the rest of the world should adopt this attitude and maybe theyll stop complaining. btw tose bastards up north are doing the same ****, and yourre still driving cars wherever the hell you are, so your still contrinuting. If you don’t like it then make something to either take the carbon out of the air or make something that is as affordable as a gas combustion engine. Al Gore’s documentary was also very slanted, you are relying on info from the guy who took credit for inventing the internet. wherever you are from, im assuming england, where do you think all of your oil comes from? ignorance=bliss doesnt it?

And from what ^ BB ^ says they are the only ones who can still afford to we have to pay $10 a gallon WTF???
It seems a bit weird really we are all getting pressurised to save energy but armies are wasting vast amounts of fuel and resources everyday to destroy people when they could preserve us by putting those armies of men and woman out to work on the land planting trees and farming using organic practices.
