Cable tv an satallite tv are pains in the ****. I don't use it at all. Just regular tv. The PBS station is awesome, and I get movies on My 20, and the other stations offer interesting reality shows like American Idol,
So You Think You Can Dance, Big Brother, Dancing With the Stars are a few that comes to the top of my mind. Anyhow, I know I am sparing myself trouble and am saving myself big bucks.
You cannot get in touch with the top, key person. They won't let you. So you have to settle for whoever you can get aholt of.

If you think your DirecTv is bad, you should try Dish Network. They are about ten times worse. We had them for about 6 months and told them to take a hike. Their billing department stinks.
We had DirecTv for about 5 years prior to Dish and had no problems. We let them go because of 2 kids in college. We had to cut it out of the budget. Dish was cheaper when we went back to satellite.
We did have a problem with our receiver box. It would not turn on and sparks were flying around the power cord at the back of the box. It could have burnt our house down. We called DirecTv to explain the problem and they wanted to charge us for a new box. We only had that box for about 3 months and they didn't care.
We learned, if you stay calm and pleasant with them you can get what you want out of them. We told them if we had to pay for a new receiver we were going to drop DirecTV and go to another provider. The very next day, a Saturday morning, they had FedEx deliver a new receiver at no cost to us.
My advice would be to tell them your not satisfied with their service and your thinking about switching providers. They will do anything to keep you as a customer. They will drop the $50 fee. Remember don't raise your voice or get mad on the phone. Be calm with them. Good luck!
