My son failed a block test today, and he has to go talk with the Captain Monday. He is in the Air Force. Does anyone know what might happen to him. He stays out of trouble, he said that his mind just went blank. I am worried for him. Please help!

this is tech school faqiling a test here is not a big deal getting washed back is not a big deal all they do is put you in a class to go ever the things you are having trouble with it is nothing to be afraid of it is there as a lerning aid he wont get kicked out for it..... yet now if they do a washback and he still fails tests then they will asess him and find out why is it just he is scared of tests or what and may provide hime with options like testing in a room with no one except the instructor to be less intimidated and if that doesnt work then they may find another career field for him but at his current state he does not need to be afraid of either possibility remember the air force has spent alot of money on training him so far they dont want to just kick him out and lose that money they will work with him

Air Force tech schools are designed to help people pass. He needs to talk to his instructor and see if a study group or tutoring is available, and he needs to really put forth effort to learn this stuff. Bear in mind he doesn't have to get perfect scores to pass, just 70%. Even if he gets "washed back," it's not the end of the world. He just has to sit through the material again and test on it again...it's not a punishment, it's a second chance. If he continues to fail future tests, and his instructors believe he is really trying but just not getting it, he'll probably be reassigned to a different AFSC (the Air Force doesn't have MOSs). If they believe his problem is attitude, not aptitude, and that he's just not making any effort, only then will they consider discharge. Panic isn't going to help, just focus and hard work.
