Computers and related gadgets have a potential of making lessons more interactive and interesting for students. This would make the student more productive.

Gadgets That Can Make Students More Productive

In modern times when the going is getting more competitive people are putting the pressure on the student fraternity to produce better results every day. This was not so in the past with the limited syllabus and the down to earth lessons that were incorporated in the curriculum. Gadgets.in has researched into the various gizmos and gadgets that are available in the market that will contribute to the students becoming more and more productive. First on the list is the iPod. This little gizmo is becoming a very convenient digital storage device. Students can use the cyber cafes to research their lessons and store the data on their iPods to retrieve at some later time. Other gadgets are not only the physical electronic gizmos in the market but also the various software students can use to make their studies easier.

It is no secret that computers are a great tool that can enhance student productivity. Teachers can create presentations in a way to grasp the attention of the student and get the lesson across in a more efficient manner. The use of overhead projectors is another great way to deliver a lesson. Probably the best gadget of all would be the miniature computer, much like a laptop. These gadgets would engross students in their lessons and deliver lessons in a more interactive way making the lesson enjoyable and memorable for the student.

Like many of us, there are occasions when I fuss and fume over how slow a web page is loading or how long it’s taking to download a file. And, since I’m a programmer by trade, I also mumble to myself at times about how limited the command set is for a particular programming language or how slow a particular PC is at updating a large database file. At times like that however, I can calm myself by closing my eyes and thinking back to when I first started working with computers. The local sales rep had sold quite a few of them and his customers included several accountants, so it seemed like a perfect fit.It featured a magnetic drum memory that could hold 64 data items and it had 128 program registers, each of which could hold four instructions. And since the internal memory was volatile (your data disappeared when you shut off the computer), the 1241 also had a paper tape reader/punch. The 1241 also came with a free electric paper tape roller-upper thingy to keep your tapes neatly rolled into reels.Actually the 1241 was pretty fast once you got your data loaded from tape, assuming you could make do with those 64 data registers. Any sizable application had to be done in stages; for example a job cost package that was available from Litton had to done in a number of steps with pauses in between to punch intermediate data to tape and then read it back in for the next step. All in all, not exactly a speed burner if you were running anything very complicated. After a while, I managed to teach myself to program the darn thing and eventually wound up being offered a job with the local Litton office. I got plenty of experience there with the venerable 1241, but over the next few years Litton made great strides in modernizing their computers. I helped run a demo for the manager of the local Coca-Cola bottling plant and he was so impressed with the speed of the new system (it sorted 2000 items in just over two hours) that he bought one on the spot.Next came the Litton 1281, which featured magnetic ledger cards. It seemed like a giant leap forward at the time and we immediately arranged a demo for a big-time prospect. The sales manager and I practiced running through the complete demo the night before our presentation and everything went smoothly. The next morning at the actual demo absolutely nothing worked — like the frog in the old Warner Brothers cartoon the 1281 just sat there and bleeped occasionally. The 1281 was followed a couple of years later by the 1300; a much more modern system. The 1300 had a monitor and cassette tape drives for storage. It was so impressive that we actually got an appointment with Walmart and went to their headquarters to make a presentation to them. When they showed us into their data processing area it seemed like old times — by golly, they were storing everything on paper tape. There were giant loops of paper tape everywhere and the chad from the paper punches was scattered all over the floor. Walmart didn’t buy from us but they did modernize their computer department shortly after that — which probably had a lot to do with Walmart growing by leaps and bounds over the next several decades.Once thing I forgot to mention; newer isn’t always better. The customer turned us down flat. The boss’s wife ran their job cost estimating program and worked on the front desk and the only way she could tell when to go start another estimate running was when the 1230 rang it’s teletype bell at the end of each job. We could offer all kinds of new features but we couldn’t ring that bell for her.Programming those systems was fun too. Do I miss those days? You bet — right up until I decide to go look through some merchandise on Amazon or check out the latest stuff on YouTube. Maybe the best part of reminiscing about those times is that it reminds me of how far we’ve come and makes me much more tolerant of that slow-loading web page.Find more at Jake Ruston and Sam Ruston.

It has become a necessity. But like everything in universe, electronic gadgets too have two sides to them. I am a house wife. I remember very clearly that evening when my husband came home, beaming from ear to ear. He had got a hefty refund on filing his income tax return. And my first reaction was – buy me a washing machine. And I was on cloud nine when my first ever washing machine was delivered. Because I must confess that I hate washing even a small hanky with hands.
Over the years I surrounded myself with various electronic gadgets. Latest models replaced old ones. I had the same excuse every time that this one works better. Microwave, toaster, griller, refrigerator, vacuum cleaners, dishwasher, geyser, air conditioner, and room warmer the list is endless. No household today is complete without these.
They are no longer considered luxuries. They make our life easy. It was ok when mistress of the house stayed back and looked after the house. But today 99% of women are working. They have to balance both home and office. These gadgets are any home maker’s friends. Electronic gadgets have brought entertainment right inside our living rooms. Today we could see the majestic full solar eclipse taking place in Kabul while sitting in India.
Television and Internet has brought the world together. We all are citizens of a large global village. Computers and laptops are now part of commercial life at all levels. Corporate offices, business houses, railways, banks, post offices are dependent on computers. Work, which used to take hours to complete are just done with a click of mouse. And you can carry your office with you where ever you go that is if your spouse has no objection.
Cell phones, iPod, digital cameras, the list is endless. Technology has made our life comfortable rather too comfortable. And this is a cause of concern. No I have nothing against electronic gadgets. I am against our dependency on these gadgets. We fail to perform in their absence. They are meant to serve us and not to rule us.
Today we can watch solar eclipse taking place in Kabul, but fail to hear cries of distress in our neighborhood. Our children are turning computer savvy, but they have not experienced the simple pleasure of climbing up a tree. We have become so used to of air conditioners that breathing in fresh air makes us sick.
This dependency is making us physically sick. See the obesity rate in the world all over, especially the developed countries. List of diseases are also endless like endless gadgets. Lets not make them our masters.

There is no doubt about it. This is the computer age. I think back to the times when I was a kid and used to listen to my grandparents talk about the big day when they got a T.V. in their homes. Even in black and white that was such advancement from having to listen to their favorite baseball game on the radio. Now years later, we have gone above and beyond and are now surprised when we speak to someone who doesn’t have a computer in their home. Although not all of us grow up in a house where there are five like I did.

I remember the day my dad brought home the first computer from school(being a teacher had some fringe benefits). It was a Mac but that was good for me. What did I know about the difference between a Mac and Windows back then?

As long as it had games I was good to go. But then my dad said I had to do homework on it because that was why he had brought it home. What a bummer. Do homework? You mean this wasn’t just a giant toy? If I had to do homework on it then that meant I had to figure out how to work the thing. Scary! There were so many different buttons to click on, and all those things to remember. Didn’t I have enough to learn at school? And if I had to figure all this stuff out wasn’t it easier just to write out my schoolwork instead? So, I started with the basics and slowly but surely I learned a new thing every day. It became fun after awhile too when I started to learn just how fast you could fix your mistakes. There was a program out there for almost everything you could want to do. Scheduling agents, programs to make greeting cards, word processing. As I got older I learned desktop publishing and multimedia programs. I learned how

to put some of my children’s stories I had written on to a CD. Wow! Now I could make money with the computer! It became an addiction. I couldn’t stop learning new programs. I took a business administration course with the computer. I took an income tax course with the computer. I took a computer tech course with the computer and now work as a technician helping others fix their computer and printer problems.

Time went by and then the Internet became popular. Now I must confess I was pretty intimidated by the Internet. There were just so many possibilities and so many places to go. I remember punching in a few words for a search for a project and 25 pages popped up! How was I ever supposed to get thru all that and find what I was looking for? But then I persevered and pretty soon I was working with my mother helping seniors and other new beginners surf the net and chat with their loved ones online. Isn’t technology grand?!

So if you are sitting there and thinking about getting involved with the computer but still not quite sure how or why you should, stop thinking and just jump right in! I can guarantee that you can only benefit from learning how to use the

computer and all the advantages it will have to make your life easier. You never know where it can take you!

Without this stuff, you can’t do it at all An essential piece of technology is something everyone will tell you about. It’s the latest thing! It’s shiny and new! It’s special. Don’t let them fool you. There are definitively things you will desperately need. Some of these things are cheap, and some are not. Despite what BestBuy will tell you, however, you do not need the newest supercomputer to start doing business. In that light, here is an itemized list of everything you need. Seriously though: without this stuff you’ll fail. Really. Fail as in epic fail. Without further ado: the list

Tada! Now you know what to gather. Rejoice… ok, so this may have been a little bit of silliness, but it’s 4:30 am. What am I really trying to get at here? I’m trying to tell you that you already have what you need. I’m sitting here with no money and no hope, but I’m still here. I’m still making this blog creature, and I’m hoping it’ll help me move some cash eventually. Don’t let the new shiney stuff blind you. Just do with what you have, and when you’ve done then you can upgrade. No rush, no hurry, no stress.

Hi, received this for my great nephew, it is an older style v tech childs laptop computer, ages 3-6, mouse is made onto the laptop, anyway, there is no instruction booklet, when you turn on the computer it instructs you to choose an activity.
Well, there are plenty of numbers with different activities on the the lid, by the screen, but I do not know how to choose an activity. I push activities and a number, nothing happens.
If anyone knows which one of the laptops I am talking about and knows how to choose activities I would appreciate, so would my hair, as I am pulling it out trying to figure this out!!!
thanks
